A Little Introduction
Small Business Marketing Centre is primarily made up of 2 lead consultants and a small number of specialist associates.
Al Elliott
“When I left school, I trained as a Secondary School Maths teacher, but hated it (too many rules, plus I was never any good at algebra…) So I graduated & took my dream job - managing a pub.The Small Business Marketing Centre was born (and remains the name of our trading company to this day).
After just 6 months I got sacked (I doubled turnover to £500,000 a year but didn’t follow the (stupid, stupid, STUPID!) rules…)
After several pretty miserable sales jobs, I realised that the life of an employee was not really for me. I left the world of bosses, timesheets & suspect sales stories to set up a late night beer delivery service.
Within 12 months I was selling £1m of alcohol annually to thirsty students in Leeds & Sheffield and despite the ‘back-to-front’ working hours, I was loving it!
Me and my team of 15 staff continued running the company for further 3 years, until the Licensing Laws in the UK changed and allowed 24 hour alcohol sales in the supermarkets. Naturally, late night drinkers would choose Spar or Asda over my service (I charged double what they did for booze) so, sadly, that company had to close.
I then spent a year or so starting & operating a property sales company, which was really good fun and did very well.
In 2005, hoping to couple my love of property and my passion for sharing information, I set up The Homeowners Advice Centre with a business partner (Chris Jenkins – see below). This was by far the most successful of all my ventures thus far and it helped homeowners who were in financial trouble find the right solution to their debt problems.
We would sell the remortgage & debt management leads to other companies and operate as Sale & Rentback company ourselves.
This was so successful that within 18 months, Chris & I had bought over £5million worth of property and were advising other companies on how to do the same. However, forecasting the property slump in 2007, we converted the company into an automated lead-generation machine, and started to expand the marketing business.”
